Congress needs to formally investigate whether President Trump is cognitively fit to hold office. This isn't a fringe concern anymore. A New York Times reporter recently wrote that Trump's rallies "feel like the first stops of a farewell tour," with the president's words drifting away from "actual, logical sense." Lawrence O'Donnell put it plainly: "If the president of the United States is insane, that is the biggest news of the day or any day."
The public record is alarming. Trump has claimed he "settled eight wars," stopped "the total obliteration of the world," and declared there's "never been anybody" more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. His approval has collapsed to 30% in a new Pew poll. When a sitting president tells reporters "I can do whatever I want" and appears to believe his own grandiose fantasies, that is not a political talking point — it is a constitutional question. I want my representative demanding answers, not looking away.
