Investigate the Trump administration's coordinated campaign to interfere with state elections before November 3. U.S. District Judge David O. Carter found the administration engaged in "a broad, ongoing pattern of attempted election interference" after it tried to force California to set aside 20,000 ballots, claiming the voters might not be citizens. When Nevada officials tracked down the 185 names Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin alleged were noncitizens on voter rolls, every single one belonged to a U.S. citizen.
This is not a good-faith effort to protect election integrity. The Justice Department has now directed California's top federal prosecutors to launch criminal investigations of state and local election officials, and issued at least three dozen subpoenas to election workers. Judge Carter wrote: "Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election, sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional elections procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch." That is a five-alarm warning that cannot be ignored.
The pattern is clear. Trump has refused to recognize Brazil's election result, where Lula won by more than 4.4 million votes and international observers called the margin decisive. He is running the same playbook here. Stand up for every citizen's right to vote in a free and fair election and demand a full investigation into this abuse of federal power.
