An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Ohio only)

Oppose the Voter Photo ID Constitutional Amendment

24 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Vote no on the joint resolution to enshrine voter photo ID requirements into Ohio's constitution. Ohio already passed a photo ID law in 2022 — it's been in effect since 2023. There is no crisis that justifies locking this into the constitution. Dave Yost's own office produced just six voter fraud indictments from 600 referrals in 2024. That's not a mandate for a constitutional amendment. What concerns me is the language itself. Writing photo ID requirements into the constitution opens the door to future restrictions on how Ohioans vote — including eliminating mail-in and early voting options that hundreds of thousands of residents rely on. This isn't about election integrity. It's a political maneuver designed to energize a base ahead of a statewide ticket that includes Senate President McColley running for lieutenant governor alongside Vivek Ramaswamy. Ohio voters deserve better than having their constitutional rights reshaped for campaign purposes. Block this resolution.
