An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Stop Executive Overreach: Congress Must Authorize Any Venezuela Action

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing as one of your constituents to urge you to stand with Senator Rand Paul in opposing unauthorized military action in Venezuela. The Constitution is clear: only Congress has the authority to declare war or approve major military operations abroad. Allowing ground strikes or other acts of war without explicit congressional authorization undermines the separation of powers and places too much trust in unilateral executive action. Regardless of one’s view on the situation in Venezuela, the precedent of bypassing Congress for armed intervention is dangerous and unacceptable. Please support Senator Paul’s efforts to ensure that any use of ground forces in Venezuela requires a formal vote and authorization from Congress. Upholding constitutional limits and congressional oversight is vital to protecting our republic and preventing unnecessary entanglement in foreign conflicts. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing your position on this critical issue.
