Urge Impeachment Proceedings Under Article II, Section 4

The evidence of impeachable conduct is extensive and urgent. Trump signed an executive order declaring that his and the Attorney General's opinions on legal questions are controlling on all executive branch employees, making himself the final arbiter of legality. He has claimed the right to order military strikes to kill suspected drug smugglers without legal justification and is deploying National Guard troops to cities against local officials' objections. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth fired senior judge advocates general who could obstruct unlawful orders, part of a broader military purge that began in February. Five former defense secretaries, including James Mattis, have written to lawmakers expressing concern about politicizing the military and removing legal constraints on presidential power. The administration is pressuring the Department of Justice to target political enemies through memorandums against former officials like Chris Krebs, who rejected false election fraud claims. Trump granted blanket clemency to nearly 1,600 people charged in the January 6, 2021 Capitol attacks, including Proud Boys and Oath Keepers members convicted of seditious conspiracy. The DOJ has been ordered to investigate ActBlue, the main Democratic fundraising platform, using government power to target opposition infrastructure. Trump is planning to subvert future elections by outlawing electronic voting machines and mail-in balloting. Cleta Mitchell, who helped his 2020 election overturn attempt, has threatened he could declare a national emergency to control national elections. These actions constitute a clear pattern of abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and violation of the constitutional oath. I urge you to fulfill your constitutional duty by supporting impeachment proceedings immediately. Our democratic institutions cannot withstand further erosion of legal constraints on executive power.
