Oppose ICE Tactics and Support DHS Funding Conditions

6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I am writing to urge you to oppose current Immigration and Customs Enforcement tactics and support conditions on Department of Homeland Security funding that would reform immigration enforcement operations. Recent polling data reveals that Americans overwhelmingly reject how ICE is conducting operations, and this opposition crosses party lines on key issues. An ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll conducted February 12-17, 2026, among 2,589 U.S. adults shows that by a 2-to-1 margin, 62% of Americans oppose the tactics ICE is using to enforce immigration laws, with only 31% supporting them. Half of all Americans strongly oppose these tactics, including 89% of Democrats and 53% of independents. Additionally, 53% oppose ICE's expanded operations to detain and deport undocumented immigrants, up from 46% in October. The public has good reason for concern. Two fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis have highlighted the dangers of current enforcement practices. Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, was killed on January 24, 2025, and Renee Good, a mother of three, was killed on January 7, 2025. These tragedies reflect a broader problem: 58% of Americans say the administration is going "too far" in deportations, up from 50% in October. Americans across the political spectrum agree on basic constitutional protections. A wide majority across party lines say federal law enforcement needs judge-approved warrants to forcibly enter homes, yet an ICE memo issued in May gave agents authority to enter homes without judge-signed warrants. Only 20% of Americans believe approval from a federal agency alone is sufficient. The current approach is also failing on its stated goals. Seventy percent of Americans don't believe most immigrants deported since January 2025 were violent criminals, with only 7% saying "nearly all" were violent criminals. I urge you to support conditions on DHS funding that would require warrant protections, restrict ICE tactics that lack public support, and ensure immigration enforcement respects constitutional rights. By a margin of 44% to 23%, Americans support replacing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, indicating widespread recognition that leadership change is needed.
