An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Pass the GRID Act to Keep Data Center Costs Off Consumers

12 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

As your constituent, I urge you to support and pass the Guaranteeing Rate Insulation from Data Centers (GRID) Act to protect families from higher electricity bills caused by the rapid growth of data centers. In North Carolina, analyses have warned that expanding data centers could raise electricity prices for households, making it even more important for Congress to act now. The issue has already drawn bipartisan concern, with support from both Republican and Democratic senators for legislation that would keep data center costs from being shifted onto ordinary consumers. North Carolina residents should not be forced to subsidize the power demands of large data centers through higher utility bills. Congress should ensure that consumers have priority on the grid, that new data centers secure power without burdening existing ratepayers, and that utility costs remain fair and transparent.
