Oppose budget cuts to the State Department

Cutting funding to these organizations would weaken U.S. leadership on the global stage and create a power vacuum that adversaries like Russia and China could exploit. At a time when conflict persists in Europe and security risks are escalating worldwide, these reductions would undermine our national security and global alliances. Moreover, the proposed cuts would halt funding for international peacekeeping missions and humanitarian aid programs that have saved countless lives. These measures are not only detrimental to global peace but also jeopardize America's moral standing as a champion of human rights and democracy. To the extent that these cuts are proposed in order to reduce the deficit, I would like to emphasize that if Congress is serious about addressing the national debt, the most effective approach is to reject the extension of the Trump tax cuts. Multiple independent analyses show that these tax cuts, if extended or expanded, would add between $4 trillion and $9 trillion to the national debt over the next decade, with the overwhelming majority of benefits going to billionaires and wealthy corporations. Instead of enriching those who need it least and further straining our fiscal outlook, we should prioritize investments that benefit all Americans-like protecting our public lands and ensuring environmental and economic stability for future generations. I urge you to reject these harmful budget proposals and advocate for continued robust funding for NATO, the United Nations, and other international organizations.
