Examine Trump-linked Self-Dealing in Critical Minerals Agreement with Kazakhstan

As your constituent, I urge you to launch a comprehensive congressional investigation into the U.S.–Kazakhstan tungsten deal and the broader pattern of financial entanglement between the Trump administration and family business interests.
In September, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick met with Kazakhstan's president at the St. Regis Hotel, where President Trump joined by phone to seal an agreement granting a little-known American company access to one of the world's largest untapped tungsten reserves—a critical material essential for missile warheads, fighter jets, and computer chips. Before this deal, the Trump administration had already approved preliminary applications for $1.6 billion in federal financing for the company.
What demands investigation is the pattern that followed. Within weeks, investors affiliated with Dominari Securities—a Trump Tower firm partly owned by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump—took a 20 percent stake in the project. Simultaneously, Cantor Fitzgerald, controlled by Secretary Lutnick's family, helped raise $210 million for related entities, generating millions in fees.
This arrangement is not isolated. Federal filings reveal that the Trump and Lutnick families have financial ties to at least 14 companies actively working with the federal government on critical mining deals. All 14 have either received federal financial assistance or have pending permit applications before the Commerce Department. The total federal funding provided or considered exceeds $8.9 billion.
This pattern—where government decisions on strategic resources align with family financial interests—represents a fundamental breach of public trust. Taxpayer dollars must serve the nation's interest, not enrich those connected to the administration.
As your constituent, I urge you to move beyond criticism and demand a formal investigation. We need congressional oversight to examine whether these deals prioritized family profit over national interest, whether proper ethics reviews occurred, and what safeguards exist to prevent future conflicts of interest.
