Demand Federal Action to Stop ICE Violence in Minneapolis

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to demand immediate action to stop the violent ICE enforcement operations terrorizing Minneapolis-St. Paul communities. As a constituent, I am appalled by the federal government's silence while residents endure what can only be described as a domestic occupation. The facts are undeniable. Schools closed for two days due to ICE activity. Seventeen-year-old Target employee Jonathan Aguilar Garcia was beaten by ICE agents during his shift, driven eight miles away, and dumped in a parking lot covered in blood. Six children were hospitalized with flash-bang burns after being caught in crossfire with ICE in North Minneapolis. Renee Good was killed by a long-time ICE agent, an incident captured on video. ICE deployed tear gas at Roosevelt High School and roughed up teachers and staff. These are not isolated incidents. ICE conducts random street stops, rams cars through intersections, and threatens observers with guns. A home builder with a valid visa was captured, flown to Texas, told his visa was canceled, and deported with only five minutes to call his family. Someone was shot in the leg while fleeing ICE. Local officials have responded. City Council President Elliot Payne, Council Member Jason Chavez, and Council Person Robin Wonsley have taken action. Minnesota has sued the federal government for invasion. Governor Walz asked ICE to leave the state. But where is the Democratic leadership at the federal level? Minneapolis residents have organized community safety patrols, established information-sharing networks, and delivered food to people afraid to leave their homes. Augsburg University moved classes online before Fall 2025 finals because students feared kidnapping. This is happening in America, in your constituency. I demand you publicly condemn these ICE operations, introduce or co-sponsor legislation to defund these enforcement actions, and use every tool available to protect Minneapolis residents from federal violence. Your constituents are watching, and silence is complicity.
