An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Demand Immediate Swearing-in of Rep. Grijalva and Release of Epstein Files

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to express my deep concern over the potential delay in swearing in Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva and the obstruction of efforts to release the Jeffrey Epstein files. These actions appear to be a calculated attempt to maintain a partisan advantage and impede transparency in a matter of grave public importance. Adelita Grijalva won her special election by a significant margin, becoming Arizona's first Latina congresswoman. Her victory narrows the Republican majority in the House to a mere five seats. Traditionally, the notification from Arizona's Secretary of State's Office about her unofficial win would be sufficient for her to be sworn in when Congress reconvenes on October 7. However, there are troubling indications that Republican leadership may delay this process. This delay seems strategically timed to prevent Rep. Grijalva from signing a crucial discharge petition that would force the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. With her signature, the petition would reach the required 218 signatures, potentially compelling action that even Speaker Mike Johnson would have limited power to obstruct. The Epstein files are critical for ensuring justice for survivors of sexual abuse and holding powerful individuals accountable. The current withholding of these files by the Justice Department raises serious questions about the protection of influential figures potentially implicated in these crimes. I urge you to take immediate action on two fronts: 1. Demand that Speaker Johnson adhere to standard practices and swear in Rep. Grijalva without delay when Congress reconvenes on October 7. 2. Support and expedite the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files to ensure transparency, justice for survivors, and accountability for all involved, regardless of their status or political affiliations. The integrity of our democratic processes and the pursuit of justice should not be subject to partisan maneuvering. Any delay in Rep. Grijalva's swearing-in or obstruction of the Epstein files' release would be a grave disservice to the American people and the principles of our democracy. I implore you to act swiftly and decisively on these matters of utmost importance.
