Demand Clear Exit Strategy in Iran and Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz

Current reporting indicates that the Strait of Hormuz—through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply normally passes—has been effectively disrupted by the conflict, with attacks on shipping and military escalation making commercial transit unsafe. This has already caused significant global economic instability and poses a direct risk to American consumers and national security. At the same time, there appears to be no clearly articulated end-state or exit strategy for U.S. military engagement. Intelligence assessments suggest that despite extensive strikes, Iran’s governing structure remains intact and has in some respects become more entrenched. Continuing military action without defined objectives risks deepening U.S. involvement in a prolonged and potentially escalating regional conflict.
