Demand Investigation Into Journalist Arrest and DOJ Document Release

I am writing to demand immediate action regarding two deeply troubling developments that threaten the foundations of our democracy: the arrest of journalist Don Lemon and the Justice Department's handling of the Epstein document release.
On the date referenced, Don Lemon was arrested in Los Angeles after reporting on a protest at a church in Minneapolis, despite a federal magistrate judge refusing to sign an arrest warrant. This decision reportedly angered Attorney General Pam Bondi. Lemon and three others, all Black, were charged with allegedly conspiring to interfere with religious freedom at a place of worship. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison stated clearly that "No one should be arrested merely for holding a camera, asking hard questions or telling the public what we have a right to know." The arrest of a journalist for doing their job represents a direct assault on First Amendment protections and press freedom.
Simultaneously, the Justice Department released over three million Epstein documents, along with approximately 200,000 videos and 180,000 images containing graphic allegations of abuse against children. Deputy AG Todd Blanche claimed the DOJ would prosecute men who abused women if they had information, yet the department simultaneously issued disclaimers calling some claims "untrue and sensationalist" and "unfounded and false" before any investigation. This selective approach to justice undermines public trust.
These incidents follow reports from Democracy Docket's Marc Elias describing ballot seizures in Georgia as "a dry run" for denying democratic outcomes in future elections. The pattern is unmistakable: selective prosecution, suppression of journalism, and manipulation of evidence.
I urge you to call for congressional investigations into both the circumstances of Don Lemon's arrest and the Justice Department's handling of the Epstein documents. Our democracy depends on accountability, transparent justice, and protection of constitutional rights. Your constituents deserve representatives who will stand against corruption regardless of political pressure.
