Cellphone videos recorded by Minnesota citizens show Pretti being surrounded, pepper-sprayed, shoved to the ground, and shot ten times. This footage directly contradicts the official narrative from the Trump administration. Within hours of the shooting, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem claimed without evidence that Pretti "arrived at the scene to inflict maximum damage on individuals and to kill law enforcement." Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Gregory Bovino called the agents "victims." No investigation had been conducted before these statements were made. Once the videos went viral, it became clear that the administration's version of events was false. This is not an isolated incident. ICE's public relations office has become a propaganda machine, producing taxpayer-funded social media videos of agents confronting and arresting people. The administration is attempting to define reality before it can be independently established. Attorney General Pam Bondi's leaked memo to Governor Tim Walz offering to remove ICE from Minnesota in exchange for voter information suggests these operations were never truly about border safety.
