An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Defend Academic Freedom! Reject defunding of Harvard University

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The continued weaponization of government must STOP. The Trump administration's decision to freeze billions in funding for Harvard over policy disagreements represents government overreach and an attack on academic freedom. Dictating what Harvard can teach, who it can hire and admit and what areas it can study violates the university's First Amendment rights. Our universities rely on federal funding to conduct critical research that drives innovation and scientific advancements. Defunding Harvard for upholding principles like diversity and inclusion undermines democratic values. Cutting off vital funding puts the public good at risk by jeopardizing research benefiting millions. Protecting university autonomy upholds academic freedom and America's interests. I urge you to fight back against these continued attacks on our institutions. There is no place for this in a democratic society.
