Demand Independent Investigation and Accountability for Renee Good's Death

I am writing to demand justice for Renee Good, an unarmed American citizen who was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis after dropping off her first grader at school. Video footage from three angles shows Good driving onto a street near her home where protesters and ICE agents were present. Eyewitnesses report that two agents gave her conflicting commands to turn around, back up, stop, and get out of her car. She rolled down her window to communicate with them. As she inched her car forward, an agent standing on the left side of her vehicle raised his gun and shot her at point-blank range. When a doctor in the crowd offered medical assistance, the agent refused, saying "I don't care."
Good was a poet, stay-at-home mother, and devoted Christian who was not politically active. She was born and raised in Colorado. The administration's characterization of her as a domestic terrorist who weaponized her car contradicts the video evidence that shows her attempting to comply with contradictory orders from federal agents.
This killing is part of a disturbing pattern. Since January, ICE agents have been involved in 15 shootings that killed four people and injured five others. The FBI has announced it will handle the investigation alone, excluding the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension from accessing case materials, scene evidence, or investigative interviews. This departure from standard practice raises serious concerns about accountability when the Justice Department reports to an administration that has already publicly defended the agent's actions.
I urge you to demand an independent investigation into Renee Good's death that includes state law enforcement agencies. Federal agents must be held accountable when they use lethal force against unarmed American citizens. No one, regardless of their agency or claimed immunity, should be above the law. Renee Good's family and community deserve answers and justice.
