Reverse the Damage of Blanche v. Lau — Protect Green Card Holders Now

Congress needs to act immediately to restore due process protections for lawful permanent residents gutted by the Supreme Court's ruling in Blanche v. Lau. The 6-3 decision, written by Justice Clarence Thomas, now allows federal border agents to deny re-entry to green card holders based on nothing more than a "reason to believe" a crime occurred — no conviction, no clear and convincing evidence, just suspicion. Under this ruling, a person can be stripped of their residency status at a port of entry before any crime is even proven.
