Trump is Looting Healthcare to Build Monuments to Himself

Vote to restore ACA marketplace subsidies and reverse the Medicaid cuts in the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act." The damage is already measurable: a Department of Health and Human Services report from June 2026 found that at least 5 million people lost health insurance in just the first six months of this year — a 13% drop. A middle-income family with two kids is now paying more than $3,500 extra per year, more than doubling their premium. Deductibles jumped roughly $1,000 per person as people fled to cheaper, skimpier plans.
The Medicaid cuts are even more cynical. Republicans call it a "work requirement," but the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities found that two out of three people who will lose coverage are legally entitled to it — they just won't survive the paperwork. Up to 15 million people are at risk. Rural hospitals will cut labor and delivery services or close entirely, taking jobs with them. Republicans deliberately timed most of these cuts to hit after the 2026 midterms. That's not policy — that's a cover-up. Before the ACA passed in 2010, 18% of Americans under 65 had no insurance. We spent fifteen years getting that below 10%. This is being dismantled on purpose, and constituents are paying the price right now.
