Oppose Jean Schmidt's Fetal Registration and Heartbeat Certificate Bill

Vote no on Representative Schmidt's bill requiring registration of all fetal deaths and certificates of life after heartbeat detection. This legislation creates a state surveillance system over pregnancy that will devastate women's healthcare in Ohio.
Mandating government tracking of every pregnancy outcome turns my body into state property. This isn't about healthcare. It's about monitoring and controlling women through a registry that will follow us through miscarriages, stillbirths, and every pregnancy loss. Doctors will be forced to report intimate medical details to the government, chilling the patient-provider relationship exactly when women need confidential care most.
This bill will make Ohio doctors afraid to provide necessary medical care. When physicians must file government paperwork for every pregnancy outcome, they'll hesitate before treating complications or emergencies. Women will die because doctors fear legal consequences more than they can focus on saving lives. We've already seen this pattern in states with similar surveillance laws.
I refuse to live in a state that requires certificates and registrations for what happens inside my body. This is government overreach that belongs in dystopian fiction, not Ohio law. Kill this bill in committee.
