America Should Lead the Free World—Not Side with Tyrants

For decades, the United States has positioned itself as a global leader in democracy, human rights, and the fight against authoritarianism. But this administration’s decision to pause military aid to Ukraine and consider easing sanctions on Russia is not just a betrayal of those values—it is a direct threat to U.S. national security and global stability.
Let’s be clear: Russia is the aggressor. Vladimir Putin has waged an illegal war against Ukraine, committed war crimes, and openly threatened NATO allies. To reward this behavior by lifting sanctions or withdrawing support from Ukraine is to legitimize Russia’s expansionist ambitions and weaken our credibility on the world stage.
This administration’s approach is not diplomacy—it is appeasement. History has shown us what happens when authoritarian regimes are given free rein to expand unchecked. If we abandon Ukraine now, we send a dangerous message that the U.S. no longer stands by its allies, emboldening dictators everywhere.
Congress must act immediately to:
1. Restore full military aid to Ukraine to ensure they can defend their sovereignty.
2. Oppose any efforts to weaken sanctions against Russia—doing so only strengthens Putin’s hand.
3. Reaffirm our commitment to NATO and democratic alliances to counter rising authoritarian threats.
The world is watching. Will the United States remain a beacon of democracy, or will we bow to dictators and sell out our allies? I urge you to take a stand against this administration’s dangerous capitulation to Putin.
