Oppose Federal Overreach in Chicago: Protect Constitutional Rights
2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent deployment of National Guard troops in Chicago. This action, taken on October 8, 2025, represents a dangerous overreach of federal power that threatens the very foundations of our democracy.
The activation of 500 National Guard soldiers, including 200 from Texas and 300 from Illinois, under Title 10 authority is unprecedented in this context. This authority is typically reserved for invasions or rebellions, not for protecting ICE agents or federal property. The administration's justification for this action is both flimsy and alarming.
Governor J.B. Pritzker has rightly called this move unconstitutional. The White House's narrative of widespread violence from the 'Radical Left' and 'Antifa' appears to be a deliberate attempt to create chaos and potentially invoke the Insurrection Act. This bears a striking resemblance to authoritarian tactics used throughout history to consolidate power and suppress dissent.
Of particular concern is the potential impact on the upcoming 2026 elections. The presence of federally controlled troops in a major city could easily be used to intimidate voters or interfere with the electoral process. This echoes disturbing parallels to authoritarian regimes and even Nazi-era political strategies.
I urge you to take immediate action to oppose this federal overreach. We must protect our constitutional rights and the integrity of our democratic processes. Please demand a full explanation from the administration for this unprecedented use of military force and work to ensure the immediate withdrawal of these troops from Chicago.
The consequences of inaction could be severe. If we allow this abuse of power to go unchallenged, it could set a dangerous precedent for future federal interventions in local affairs. We must act now to preserve the balance of power between state and federal governments and to protect the rights of all Americans.
I look forward to hearing about the specific steps you will take to address this critical issue and safeguard our democracy.
