Drop Abusive charges against Rep. McIver for doing lawful oversight

This is an egregious abuse of power by the Trump administration to bring politically motivated charges against a sitting member of Congress for simply attempting to conduct lawful oversight of an ICE detention facility. Retaliating against duly elected representatives performing their Constitutional duties is a direct attack on our democracy and system of checks and balances. These charges lack any basis in fact or law, as Rep. McIver was well within her rights to inspect the facility. The aggressive actions by ICE agents escalated a routine oversight visit into an unnecessary confrontation. Attempting to intimidate and interfere with Congress's ability to serve as a check on the executive branch is unacceptable and must be stopped immediately. This overreach by the Justice Department is morally bankrupt and represents a dangerous overstepping of boundaries that threatens the foundation of our government. I urge you to condemn these charges, defend Congressional oversight authority, and take immediate action to rein in this administration's disregard for the separation of powers.
