An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
House Judiciary Committee must take action on H.Res. 353

As your constituent, I urge you, as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, to move House Resolution 353 - entitled "Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors" - which is currently assigned to your committee, out of committee and to bring it to the full House for a vote. H.Res. 353 describes serious wrongdoing by Donald Trump, and Congress has a responsibility to ensure that these allegations are not left unheard and unevaluated by the House because of delay due to procedural stalling, or political inconvenience.
First, the resolution identifies conduct that, if proven, undermines the rule of law and threatens the integrity of democratic institutions. When public officials or major political figures engage in acts meant to override legitimate legal processes, that harms public trust far beyond any single election cycle. The House Judiciary Committee is uniquely positioned to evaluate whether there is a pattern of behavior warranting accountability.
Second, H.Res. 353 addresses actions involving interference with lawful oversight and the operation of government. Attempts to pressure, obstruct, or otherwise distort the work of officials charged with enforcing the law—whether directly or through aligned efforts—are not partisan theater. They are governance failures that Congress must confront decisively. Moving the resolution forward is the appropriate constitutional step to ensure that Members can consider the full record on the House floor.
Third, the resolution highlights conduct consistent with deliberate efforts to mislead the public and evade responsibility for unlawful actions. Undermining truth in matters of public importance is itself an institutional danger. A committee-to-floor vote would allow Members to formally weigh the resolution’s factual findings and legal implications in public view.
I respectfully ask you to use your position on the House Judiciary Committee to advance H.Res. 353 promptly. Please let me know what steps you will take to schedule committee action and secure a floor vote.
