In the past few weeks alone, Trump has: - Defied a Supreme Court ruling by refusing to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego García, a wrongfully deported U.S. resident — a blatant rejection of judicial authority and due process. - Revoked the Social Security numbers of lawfully present immigrants in a sweeping, xenophobic attempt to pressure them to “self-deport,” effectively stripping financial agency and legal identity without due process. - Been caught on a hot mic discussing the construction of prisons in El Salvador to detain U.S. citizens, effectively threatening to outsource the imprisonment of Americans under foreign authoritarian regimes. - Blocked the Associated Press from White House press events, violating First Amendment protections and attacking press freedom — a hallmark of authoritarian regimes. - Suggested deporting American citizens convicted of crimes — an unconstitutional threat that would strip Americans of their birthright protections under the 14th Amendment. - Used the Department of Justice to target political opponents, directing investigations into those who dared criticize him. This is not governance — this is persecution. - Continues to incite hatred, division, and anti-democratic fervor, emboldening extremists and eroding faith in our institutions. This is treasonous in spirit, if not by legal definition. His actions are dictatorial. They betray the Constitution. And they betray us. The time for statements is over. The time for concern is over.
