Todd Blanche's Justice Department just announced it will pull $1.776 billion from the federal Treasury's Judgment Fund — a permanent appropriation Congress created to pay legitimate court judgments — and hand it out to Trump allies, MAGA loyalists, and roughly 1,500 January 6th rioters who claim they were "victims." This is not a legal settlement process. It's a political slush fund. A five-member commission appointed by the Attorney General, with members Trump personally reserves the right to fire, will decide who gets paid. The application window conveniently closes December 15, 2028 — just before any new administration could stop it. Trump even sued the IRS, an agency he controls, for $10 billion over his leaked tax returns and then effectively settled with himself. That's not justice. That's looting. Congress controls the purse.
