An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives

Protect SNAP Benefits, Prioritize Human Needs Over Cuts

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a crucial lifeline for millions of Americans struggling with food insecurity, many of whom are children. The proposed cuts and expanded work requirements in H.R. 1 threaten to exacerbate hunger and poverty for already vulnerable populations. We cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of those in need. Slashing SNAP funding by $290 billion and imposing stricter work mandates that could cause 5 million families to lose benefits is not only fiscally irresponsible but morally reprehensible. As a nation, we have a moral obligation to support and uplift the least among us during difficult times. I urge you to reject these harmful provisions in H.R. 1 and prioritize people over profits by protecting and strengthening SNAP. An investment in hunger prevention is an investment in our collective wellbeing and future.
