Demand Congressional Action to Stop Federal Overreach in Minnesota

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to demand immediate congressional action to address the federal government's dangerous overreach in Minnesota, where two American protesters, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, have been killed by masked federal agents during immigration enforcement operations. In both cases, video evidence contradicted official government statements, and both victims were labeled as domestic terrorists by government spokesmen. This is the language of authoritarian regimes that blame victims for their own deaths. According to reporting by Lydia Polgreen of The New York Times, the federal operation in Minneapolis has become a spectacle of cruelty involving thousands of masked, heavily armed agents with minimal training who have been granted near-total legal immunity. These agents have detained not only undocumented immigrants but also American citizens, including Native Americans, and have used violence against local lawmakers, legal observers, high school students, and random drivers. Following Alex Pretti's death, Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz demanding access to the state's voter registration records. Democracy Docket characterizes this as a major assault on Minnesota's sovereignty designed to influence upcoming midterm elections. The federal government is using a violent paramilitary force to extort an American state. Congress has the constitutional authority and responsibility to investigate these deaths, restrict funding for these operations, and protect state sovereignty. I urge you to cosponsor legislation that would defund these paramilitary operations, launch immediate oversight hearings into the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and block any federal attempts to access state voter registration records without proper legal justification. The use of lethal force against American citizens exercising their constitutional rights cannot be normalized. I expect you to take a clear public stand against these authoritarian tactics and work across party lines to restore constitutional governance.
