Protect the Government Accountability Office and Library of Congress

The proposed cuts to the Library of Congress and Government Accountability Office budgets pose a grave threat to the system of checks and balances that underpins our democracy. These independent, nonpartisan agencies play a critical role in providing lawmakers with objective research and oversight to make informed decisions and exercise their Constitutional authority over federal spending. Defunding them would eviscerate the Legislative branch's ability to fulfill its duty and act as a co-equal branch of government. This blatant power grab must be rejected to preserve our democratic system of government. I urge you to vigorously oppose any efforts to slash funding for the Library of Congress and Government Accountability Office.
