An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Say NO to Taxpayer Dollars spend on Detention Camps and the Border Wall

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to protest President Trump’s plan to spend billions of taxpayer dollars to fund an expanded immigration detention system and the construction of a border wall. This funding request includes over $1 million specifically to increase the number of families held in detention, many of whom are fleeing violence and seeking safety in the United States. In addition, the wall is an expensive and ineffective solution that does nothing to address the root causes of migration or enhance our national security. Instead it does nothing put expand the reach and scope of the prison-industrial system at a time when the crime rate is falling. These policies criminalize people seeking refuge and waste public funds that could be better spent on programs that truly strengthen our communities. I urge you to reject these appropriations for increased detention or wall construction and to instead advocate for policies that protect immigrant families and uphold American values. Thank you for your leadership.
