An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Reject extremist Lucas nomination, uphold EEOC's anti-discrimination mission

Andrea Lucas's nomination as Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) poses a grave threat to the agency's core mission of preventing and remedying workplace discrimination. During her brief tenure as Acting Chair, Lucas has abused her position to launch unlawful investigations against critics, shakedown law firms over diversity programs, and target free speech at universities – even sending questionnaires to faculty on their personal phones about their Jewish identity. She has announced plans to prosecute employers for hiring foreign-born workers, ending investigations into LGBTQ discrimination. Lucas is dismantling legal protections and weaponizing the EEOC to increase, rather than combat, workplace bias and discrimination. All workers deserve an EEOC that safeguards their rights without prejudice. I urge you to reject this extremist nomination that would erode the system of checks and balances and undermine equal employment opportunity.
