Demand Action to Stop Federal ICE Raids in Minneapolis

I am writing to demand immediate action to stop the federal ICE operations currently terrorizing immigrant and minority communities in the Twin Cities metro area. What is happening in Minneapolis right now requires urgent intervention from Democratic leadership.
Federal ICE agents are conducting mass arrests without warrants throughout the metro area. Local Fox News analysis found that only 5% of approximately 2,000 people arrested had records of violent criminal convictions. This is not targeted enforcement of violent criminals. This is racial profiling on a massive scale, with thousands of federal officers patrolling immigrant, Black, and Latino neighborhoods daily.
The impact on public schools has been devastating. Two US citizen teachers were violently extracted from their cars in front of a large Minneapolis high school, and students who witnessed the event were pepper-sprayed. Schools closed for two days and shifted to hybrid learning because administrators could not guarantee student safety. In another incident, a man was abducted while walking his child to a school bus stop, leaving the child abandoned on the street. Learning has essentially stopped because students do not feel psychologically safe.
Federal officers are detaining Native Americans at Fort Snelling, the site of the largest mass execution by the US government in 1862. Jose Roberto Ramirez, age 20, from the Red Lake Nation was detained there, along with four homeless members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. DHS is demanding tribes sign 287(g) agreements to gain information about detained members. The Trump administration has strong-armed over 1,300 jurisdictions into these compacts, a tenfold increase since 2024.
Community members peacefully observing these operations to document abductions and inform people of their rights are being labeled terrorists and detained for hours without charges at the Whipple Building at Fort Snelling.
I need you to use every tool available to stop these operations immediately. Introduce emergency legislation. Hold hearings. Withhold funding. File lawsuits. Speak publicly every single day about what is happening in Minneapolis. Democratic leadership must act now before this situation escalates further.
