No Tax Cuts!

I'm writing this letter to express my concerns about the proposed budget and tax cuts. What are the Republicans doing to the people of this country? Our history has shown that tax cuts do not create economic growth. They do not. That is a lie the Republicans are trying to sell to keep themselves, their wealthy friends, and corporate donations protected from criticism. Tax cuts didn’t help the economy and increased the national debt during George W. Bush and Donald Trump’s administrations. Donald Trump’s tax cut in 2017 added $7 trillion to the deficit! And here we are again. The Republicans are demanding tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations on the backs of Americans. The President’s proposed tax cuts are projected to add $4.6 trillion to the deficit, which the tax-paying public must repay. The Republicans think the way to balance the added debt caused by the tax cuts is to cut services to citizens who depend on the government to help them by cutting Medicare, Medicaid, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which they voted on and passed last night. How does this make the United States a better place? How does cutting services that help people and gaslighting the public by telling them this is good for them help the nation? And this is just the beginning. We all know that more cuts that benefit the wealthy are on the way. I want to know what you are going to do about this. Where is your voice? Where is your commitment to your constituents to do what is best for them over what is best for you or your party? I want to know how the Republican party thinks that cutting benefits for the poorest Americans to give tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans is good for the nation. How? I want to know how the Republicans in the House and Senate sleep at night and why the Democrats (other than Chris Murphy) aren’t screaming in their loudest voices about the injustice of this.
