Demand Closure of Camp East Montana Detention Facility

I am writing to demand that you take immediate action to close Camp East Montana at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The documented torture occurring at this facility is unconscionable. Human rights organizations have compiled sworn testimony from more than 45 detained individuals documenting systematic abuse. A teenage detainee named Samuel was beaten unconscious by officers who broke his tooth, crushed his testicles, and forced fingers into his ears, causing permanent hearing damage. Another detainee, Isaac, testified that officers slammed his head against a wall ten times and also crushed his testicles. He and 20 others were then handcuffed, bused to the border, and threatened with imprisonment in El Salvador or Africa if they refused to cross into Mexico. Officers are systematically using beatings, sexual assault, and threats to coerce non-Mexican immigrants to accept deportation to countries where they have no ties. A leaked internal ICE inspection from September 2025 found the facility violated over 60 federal detention standards in its first 50 days of operation. This facility opened in August 2025 on the same military base used to intern Japanese Americans during World War II. It now holds over 2,700 people, making it the country's largest immigration detention center. This is torture. This is unacceptable. Is this what you stand for? How far is too far? I need you to publicly call for the immediate closure of Camp East Montana and demand accountability for the officers who committed these acts. Our nation's values demand nothing less.
