An open letter to the U.S. Congress

investigate Potential Trump-linked Conflicts of Interest with Greenland Energy

As your constituent, I ask that your office support a formal Congressional investigation into potential conflicts of interest involving U.S. officials and Greenland Energy, a company seeking to drill for oil in Greenland. The public overlap between Trump-linked individuals and the company’s financial backers creates a serious concern that private commercial interests could be influencing U.S. foreign policy and strategy. Key concerns requiring scrutiny: Coordination and influence: Have any Trump administration officials coordinated with Greenland Energy, its executives, or its financial backers regarding the company’s Greenland operations or any broader annexation/strategy agenda? Personal or staff benefits: Have any individuals or entities associated with Greenland Energy (including major shareholders or board members) provided financial benefits, campaign contributions, or other compensation to the President or his staff? Permitting and legal authority: Were permits formally granted by Greenland’s relevant mineral authorities for the company’s proposed activities? If drilling is not yet authorized, what legal authority is the company relying on for equipment transport and drilling-preparation steps? Rhetoric aligned with commercial timing: Are claims and messaging advanced by administration officials—especially those emphasizing rapid timelines for oil production—consistent with the actual permitting, approvals, and staged nature of Greenland’s process? Why this warrants investigation now: Recent reporting indicates the project is advancing on a commercial timeline that appears to outpace formal approvals. Greenland officials have reportedly clarified that applications submitted by the company may cover preliminary geological work rather than oil drilling, while other reporting describes planned shipments of drilling-related equipment and an expected drilling window despite the company not yet having the necessary approvals. This mismatch between the public narrative and the regulatory status heightens the risk that political leverage is being used to accelerate private extraction goals rather than follow Greenland’s processes and safeguards. It further suggest that extractive industries are the real reason for the administration's push to annex Greenland, not national security. I respectfully request that the appropriate Congressional committee initiate an investigation into these issues and, to the extent permitted by law, publicly report its findings.
