Impeach President Trump Under Article II, Section 4

I am writing to urge you to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump and members of his administration under Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution for high crimes and misdemeanors that threaten our constitutional order.
Trump's actions during this second term demonstrate a pattern of authoritarian overreach that violates his oath of office. He has deployed National Guard troops to cities over local officials' objections and signaled willingness to invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act to use military force domestically. Most alarmingly, he claimed the right to order the military to summarily kill suspected drug smugglers without legal justification. As national security expert Tom Nichols warns, Trump is establishing a dangerous principle that the military is his private army, unconstrained by law or American traditions.
The administration has systematically dismantled legal constraints on presidential power. An executive order signed in February declares that the President and Attorney General's legal opinions are controlling on all executive branch employees, making Trump the final arbiter of his own actions' legality. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth fired senior judge advocates general who could obstruct unlawful orders. Five former defense secretaries, including James Mattis, have expressed alarm about this politicization of the military.
Trump granted blanket clemency to nearly 1,600 people charged in the January 6, 2021 Capitol attacks, including Proud Boys and Oath Keepers members convicted of seditious conspiracy. He has pressured the DOJ to investigate political opponents and ordered investigations of ActBlue, the main Democratic fundraising platform. He fired the nonpartisan Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner after unfavorable jobs numbers were reported.
Former federal judge J. Michael Luttig warns that Trump will likely seek a third term in defiance of the Constitution and will hold onto office at any cost. The time to act is now, before these abuses become irreversible. I urge you to fulfill your constitutional duty to check executive overreach through impeachment proceedings.
