An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Vote NO on H. Res. 719 Honoring Charlie Kirk
2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing today to urge you not to support H. Res. 719.
Charlie Kirk was not a hero. He was not someone to be admired. He spread hate and bigotry online and in person. He was a misogynist, a homophobe, a transphobe, and a racist. He should not be honored by the US Government.
Here are some of his quotes:
“I think it’s worst it…some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment.”
"I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that does a lot of damage."
“A man who calls himself trans is wearing 'woman face,' no different than I would wear Black face trying to be a Black person. It's assuming an identity that isn't yours."
"Black women do not have brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person's slot."
“This is something that I hope will make Taylor Swift more conservative. Engage in reality more… Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You're not in charge.”
"If I see a Black pilot, I'm going to be like, 'Boy, I hope he's qualified.'"
I urge you to vote NO on H. Res 719 and instead spend time focusing on ways to improve the lives of our fellow Americans, not celebrating someone who rejoiced in the pain of others he didn’t agree with.
