An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop increasing the Department of Defense budget, we cannot afford it

19 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

The stopgap measure proposed by House Republicans increases defense spending while decreasing non-defense spending. Continuously growing the Department of Defense's budget is concerning given the immense scale of military spending in the United States. We should prioritize funding for essential domestic programs that directly benefit the well-being of American citizens over inflating an already bloated defense budget. I urge you to reject provisions that hike defense spending and instead reallocate those funds towards initiatives that improve healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social services for your constituents. The outsized military budget comes at the expense of investments in our communities. As an elected representative, it is your duty to advocate for the needs of the people over the interests of the military-industrial complex.
