An open letter to State Governors

Block the USPS Ballot Mail Rule Before It Disenfranchises Voters

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Stop the proposed USPS rule published June 2, 2026 from taking effect. This rule, issued in response to a Trump executive order, would give the federal government authority to block mail-in and absentee ballots from being delivered to eligible voters — stripping states of control over their own elections. The practical harm is real and immediate. A single data error could prevent a lawful voter from receiving their ballot, with no recourse before Election Day. Election administrators have already said there isn't enough time or funding to comply before the November 2026 midterms. Overseas citizens, people with disabilities, rural voters, and communities that have historically faced barriers at the polls would bear the worst of it. Our state runs its elections. Washington shouldn't get to decide which voters receive a ballot. Use every tool available to block this rule and protect mail-in voting in our state.
