In the last month, two additional U.S. Senators signed on to support Medicare for All, bringing the total to 18 in the Senate and 109 in the House. This momentum matters — but it still falls far short of where the American people already are. Nearly two-thirds of the country supports Medicare for All, including majorities of Democrats, Republicans, and independents. It’s one of the rare issues where the public leads, and Washington lags behind.
The phased rollout of Medicare for All provides immediate, tangible benefits for millions:
Year 1:
• Lower the Medicare eligibility age to 55
• Cover every child in America
• Eliminate out-of-pocket costs
• Expand Medicare to include dental, vision, and hearing
Year 2: Lower eligibility to 45
Year 3: Lower eligibility to 35
Year 4: Guarantee comprehensive health care for all — no premiums, no deductibles, no co-pays, no out-of-pocket expenses, and full choice of doctors and hospitals
This isn’t just morally urgent — it’s economically undeniable. Medicare for All would save an estimated $650 billion every year while preventing 68,000 unnecessary deaths annually by cutting waste, bureaucracy, and corporate middlemen out of the health-care system.
In the richest nation on earth, health care must be a human right — not a privilege, not a commodity, and not a roll of the dice based on employment, geography, or income. Funding it is straightforward: ask the billionaire class and large corporations to finally pay their fair share instead of balancing the system on the backs of working people.
This is a far better path for American families than any distraction, gimmick, or short-term trend. Millions need real, lasting change — and they need it now. It is time for Congress to meet the public where it already stands and support Medicare for All.
