An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop the Erosion of Women’s Rights—We Deserve Protection, Not Oppression

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to you as one of your constituents, though I already know what that means: my voice is one of many, and I am asking you to care about an issue that likely does not directly impact you. But I am asking anyway, because women don’t have the luxury of ignoring the structures that oppress them. We carry them, we endure them, and we make them function—while the men who benefit from them rarely take the time to notice. Our worth is constantly questioned, our autonomy is treated as negotiable, and our contributions are dismissed even as society leans on us to keep it from collapsing. Every day, women navigate a world where we are underestimated, undervalued, and disrespected—all while keeping the men above us afloat. It is soul-crushing to know that no matter how competent, intelligent, or essential we are, we will always be seen as something less. The rising wave of open misogyny in political spaces isn’t just rhetoric—it’s a systemic attack on women’s power, independence, and ability to exist as equals. It manifests in laws that strip away reproductive rights, policies that devalue our labor, and media narratives that insist we are weak, emotional, or incapable of leadership. It manifests in the way men in power—like yourself—too often overlook these realities because they have never had to live them. You may not personally relate to the exhaustion of constantly proving yourself in a world that assumes your inferiority, but you do have the power to push back against those who seek to make this situation even worse. You have the power to advocate for women, to challenge those who want to see us silenced, and to make it clear that you do not support a future where half the population is expected to stay in the shadows while propping up the other half. So I am asking you: Will you acknowledge the reality of what women endure in this country? Will you take a stand against the forces actively working to strip away our rights and our dignity? I urge you to consider the weight of this issue—not just as a politician, but as a human being with the power to make a difference. Please don’t continue benefiting from a system that relies on our subjugation — think of your future granddaughters and protect them and protect us all.
