The First Amendment is Non-Negotiable: DO SOMETHING NOW
4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
Across this country, the space for dissent is being strangled before our eyes. Late night shows that have always been critical of those in power — especially President Trump — are suddenly canceled. Private citizens who dare to push back on the rhetoric of extremists like Charlie Kirk are being doxed, harassed, and silenced. The pattern is unmistakable: the administration and its allies are dismantling the First Amendment piece by piece.
Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are not privileges to be doled out by those in power. They are the bedrock of a democracy. And yet, the current climate makes clear that criticism of the president and his movement carries consequences — not policy debate, not rebuttal, but cancellation, intimidation, and punishment. This is not democracy. This is authoritarianism.
Every time Congress fails to confront these abuses, the boundary of what is “allowed” narrows further. Silence in the face of these attacks is complicity. If the First Amendment is gutted — if dissent is treated as a crime — then we no longer have a republic worth defending.
As a member of congress, it is your duty to hold this administration accountable. Speak loudly. Investigate. Protect journalists, comedians, educators, and everyday people who dare to criticize those in power. Make it clear that our constitutional rights are not negotiable.
The future of American democracy depends on whether you act now.
