Demand Immediate Action Against Federal Overreach in Minnesota

I am writing to demand immediate congressional action in response to the escalating federal overreach and political persecution occurring in Minnesota. The Trump administration has opened a federal investigation into Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for allegedly obstructing federal law enforcement, while refusing to investigate the ICE agent who fatally shot 37-year-old mother Renee Good on January 7. This selective prosecution represents a dangerous weaponization of federal power against elected officials who are fulfilling their duty to protect their constituents.
Since Operation Metro Surge began in December, over 3,000 people have been arrested in Minnesota. The operation has resulted in two shooting incidents, including the death of Renee Good. DHS officials claim Good was attempting to run over officers, but local officials dispute this account. A majority of Americans believe the shooting was unjustified and inappropriate, yet the federal agent responsible faces no investigation. Meanwhile, the administration threatens Governor Walz and Mayor Frey with federal charges for questioning these tactics.
This is political intimidation designed to silence dissent. As Senator Amy Klobuchar stated at Friday's hearing in Minneapolis, ICE is causing confusion, chaos and fear on Minnesota streets. Mayor Frey testified that this is not about immigration but about sowing chaos. The administration has hundreds of active-duty soldiers on standby and President Trump has openly discussed using the Insurrection Act, demonstrating the authoritarian nature of this response.
I urge you to take immediate action to support impeachment proceedings against President Trump and members of his administration for abuse of power. Congress must also conduct oversight hearings, demand accountability for Renee Good's death, and pass emergency legislation to restrict these federal operations. The constitutional separation of powers and the safety of American citizens depend on swift congressional intervention.
