An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Firing Inspector Generals

5 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I am writing to express my concern with the Oresident’s decision to break the law and fire numerous inspectors general last weekend. In 2022 following Trump firing 5 inspectors general he considered disloyal to him. Congress then amended the law that was created in 1978 to require any president who sought to get rid of an inspector general to ‘communicate in writing the reasons for any such removal or transfer to both Houses of Congress, not later than 30 days before the removal or transfer.” Congress called the lay the “Securing the Inspector General Independence Ace of 2022.” Add I want to know why this law was not followed. I also want to know what you will do about it. Call it out? Support his lawless actions? Stand by while he openly violates the law? As your constituent I expect that you will do what is right and stand by our Constitution and the rule of law. Why is the President above the law and why do you tolerate this as if being lawless tis acceptable behavior?
