The Pandemic Rages On, Threatening Our Most Important Resource — Our Future

You desperately need to reconsider stay at home orders. People are going out and acting as if COVID is over. They’re gathering in groups for cookouts and spreading this pandemic much farther than if they were taking all precautions. Although masks have been mandated, there seems to be no enforcement. Schools are planning to reopen in the fall and not have students wear masks. This is an incredible risk to our children, our teachers, and the entire state. Our teachers dedicate their lives to our children. They deserve safety in the workplace. No one should be choosing between their livelihoods and their safety, and yet we’re forcing teachers to weigh their options. Students should be able to go to school without fear of getting sick or killing family members. I can’t imagine the anxiety and trauma they’re experiencing while facing the concept of going back to school without every precaution. Put a stop to the insanity. Ignoring the problem is what Trump is doing and it’s led to countless deaths, illnesses, and job losses. Enforce mask wearing. Schools cannot reopen as usual. Mask enforcement at schools will not work. If you expect a group of kindergarteners to be safe and clean 100% of the time, you may need to reacquaint yourself with that age group. The only solution I see is 100% at home video learning. It may not be the best education system but until we have a vaccine, at least we can mitigate hundreds of thousands of infections and deaths.
