Request for DHS Secretary Mullin’s Resignation

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Gillen

From: A constituent in Hewlett, NY

May 28

I am writing to urge you to publicly call for the resignation of DHS Secretary Mullin following reports that he proposed pulling Customs and Border Protection personnel from JFK and Newark Liberty International Airport to pressure so-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions. Threatening to disrupt major international airports for political retaliation against “blue states” is an unacceptable abuse of federal authority. JFK and Newark are essential economic and transportation hubs that millions of travelers, workers, and businesses depend on every year. Federal agencies are meant to serve the entire country equally, not punish states over political disagreements. Suggesting the use of DHS powers to intentionally disrupt critical infrastructure undermines trust in federal institutions and sets a dangerous precedent. I urge you to publicly condemn these remarks and demand Secretary Mullin’s resignation before this type of partisan retaliation becomes normalized.
