Support the Abolish Super PACs Act — End Unlimited Dark Money in Elections

To: Rep. McDonald Rivet, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A verified voter in Grand Blanc, MI

July 17

Support the Abolish Super PACs Act. For over a decade, billionaire-funded mega-PACs have served as legal loopholes, allowing corporations and the ultra-wealthy to pump unlimited, often anonymous money into our elections. They buy influence. They drown out real voters. And they do it all while claiming to be independent. The numbers make the corruption plain: independent expenditures exploded more than 700 percent between 2008 and 2020, and in 2024 alone, nearly 97 percent of individual Super PAC contributions came from the top one percent of donors. That's not democracy — that's an auction. The SpeechNow.org decision opened this floodgate, and Congress has both the authority and the obligation to close it. The bill's findings cite real corruption risks backed by case law, including U.S. v. Menendez, giving courts a solid factual record to uphold these limits. Vote yes on this bill. Contribution limits on independent expenditure committees are a reasonable, constitutional check on the most corrosive force in modern elections. My vote and my voice should carry the same weight as a billionaire's checkbook.
