It is alarming that Congress is attempting to make severe cuts to Medicaid through the budget reconciliation process. This lifeline provides critical health coverage and long-term care supports to over 7 million older adults and 12 million people with Medicare. Reducing federal funding or imposing harmful policies like work requirements would force states to cut services, leading to millions losing access to the care they need. Medicaid enables older adults and people with disabilities to receive home and community-based services, supports caregivers, covers Medicare costs, and keeps people healthier while saving Medicare money. Any cut to Medicaid is a cut to Medicare. I urge you to reject any proposals that would slash this vital safety net program that millions rely on. Protecting and strengthening Medicaid must be a top priority.
