OPPOSE H.R.9495 and PASS H.R.7791 to STOP TAX PENALTIES ON AMERICAN HOSTAGES

To: Sen. Ossoff, Rep. McCormick, Sen. Warnock

From: A constituent in Alpharetta, GA

December 2

If Congress genuinely cared about extending tax filing deadlines and reimbursing tax penalties for American Hostages, then the House would have passed H.R.7791 - Stop Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act of 2024. The Senate agreed by UNANIMOUS consent to pass H.R.7791 "if the Senate receives a message from the House of Representatives that it has passed H.R. 7791...if the text is identical to S. 4057." As luck would have it, H.R.7791 IS IDENTICAL to S.4057 - Stop Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act of 2024. Instead, the House decided to take a gamble on American Hostages and exploit their dire situation by handcuffing it to another piece of legislation that gives the Treasury Department unilateral power to designate any 501c3 as "supporting terrorists" without evidence or due process. Once again, you prove by your actions that you will use American citizens as pawns in your increasingly transparent schemes to expand government powers to further oppress and suppress citizens. Senators: OPPOSE H.R.9495 to deny giving the Treasury Department unilateral power to designate any 501c3 as "supporting terrorists" without evidence or due process. Representatives: Push H.R.7791 out of committee and approve it as is.
