I strongly urge action to raise the meager asset limit for individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The current restrictive limit of just $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple forces vulnerable disabled Americans into abject poverty, stripping them of any opportunity to accrue even modest savings. This draconian policy undermines human dignity and perpetuates a cruel cycle of destitution for our most disadvantaged citizens. We must increase this archaic asset cap to allow disabled recipients a reasonable financial cushion and a chance at economic security without jeopardizing their vital benefits. No one should be consigned to perpetual deprivation simply for having a disability. I implore you to prioritize raising the SSI asset limits and restoring basic fairness for our disabled community.
