Stop Trump’s Executive Order on Elections

To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, Rep. Schrier, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Sammamish, WA

March 25

The American electoral system is the bedrock of our democracy, and any efforts to undermine its integrity or infringe on citizens' voting rights are deeply concerning. President Trump's recent executive action to overhaul federal elections poses a grave threat to free and fair elections. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters who lack certain documents. Restricting mail-in ballots accepted after Election Day disproportionately impacts voters in rural areas or overseas. And threatening to withhold federal funds from non-compliant states erodes state autonomy over elections. These measures sow confusion, suppress voter participation, and risk subverting the will of the people. We must fiercely defend the fundamental right to vote and the sanctity of our electoral process. I urge you to take immediate action to block this executive overreach and protect American democracy.
